Sailing 2023 Almerimar to Barcelona
Hard wind right into the berth
During my stay in March the wind came right into our berth. I have strengthened my lines in the back but In the front there is only one. The mooring line. The boat was covered in spray and it was impossible to sleep because of all the noise and movements.
Two nights in the marina
We decided to wait until after the weekend to go into Cartagena. We need to get new oars and reglue the oar holders. During the day we took off the carburator on the dinghy motor. Gasoline from last season had clogged it. From now on we will switch of the motor by closing the fuel.
We motored and motorsailed on the genua all day. The marina was very nice and at 28€ it was also affordable. We filled diesel, water and went shopping.
We anchored two days in hard winds. It was a good plan because it would have been very hard to go around the cape. We have a Danforth anchor that works extremely well in sand and light grass. For hard surfaces it is not so good. We vere hanging on in windgusts over 35 knots.
At wone time the wind flipped the dinghy over, and the oars unfortunatly floaed away.
Our goal this summer is the Baleares. The wind is normally against, or very weak so we decided to go by motor to Cabo da Gata and anchor and wait for weak winds, to be able to round this notorious cape.
The season started with Covid. Finally after 2 years of hiding i got to me too. The plan was to visit friends i Almeria a couple of nights and then finally arrive in Almeriamar to start the season.
We are planning the season and have decided to sail to the Baleares and then return to almerimar för the winter
Greta Garbo is safe on land in the yard in Almerimar. We will go down as soon as it feels safe to travel or when we got our vaccine. I am 68 going on 69 so I hope I will be vacaccinated at least before the month of May
Vi basically only did one trip during the summer. Björn, Daniella and I did sail to Melilla. It is about 80 miles which will take Greta Garbo 18 - 20 hours. We did not have much wind so motored almost all the way. I wrote a little more in the Facebook post and also posted some pictures.
